NOMEX Filter Bag

What is the NOMEX Filter Bag?

The NOMEX filter bag, also known as the Aramid filter bag, is renowned for its heat resistance. It remains stable at temperatures up to 250°C, providing exceptional strength and durability.

This needle-punched felt cloth serves as both a filter and insulation material, exhibiting excellent resistance to high temperatures. It possesses good physical and chemical compatibility and is nearly non-flammable.

The NOMEX filter bag offers micron ratings from 1 to 100 at temperatures up to 200°C, effectively removing solid or gelatinous particles during liquid filtration. Its depth-loading felt material features a singed finish, which helps minimize fiber migration.

Additionally, NOMEX is resilient against low concentrations of acids and alkalis, with most hydrocarbons having little effect. Even small amounts of fluoride do not significantly erode the material. This versatility makes it suitable for industries such as asphalt, cement, iron and steel, non-ferrous metals, lime, drying, and crushed stone.

Differences Between Coated and Uncoated NOMEX Filter Bags

Filtration Efficiency

Coated NOMEX filter bags offer higher filtration efficiency, effectively removing smaller particles and impurities. The polymer membrane adds an extra filtration layer, enhancing precision. Uncoated bags primarily rely on fibers, resulting in lower filtration effectiveness.

Dirt Capacity

Coated NOMEX filter bags can hold more particles without clogging due to the polymer membrane’s elasticity, which allows expansion under pressure. Uncoated bags have a smaller dirt capacity.

Abrasion Resistance

Coated NOMEX filter bags provide better abrasion resistance, making them less prone to damage. The durability of the polymer membrane withstands friction and scouring. Uncoated bags may wear over time, affecting performance.

Chemical Stability

Coated NOMEX filter bags exhibit superior chemical stability, making them suitable for various corrosive environments. The polymer membrane resists chemical corrosion, protecting against acids and bases. Uncoated bags may be more susceptible to damage in harsh conditions.

In summary, users should choose between coated and uncoated NOMEX filter bags based on their specific needs. Coated bags are ideal for high-precision filtration and harsh environments, while uncoated bags are sufficient for less demanding applications. Proper selection and usage ensure stable operation, improved filtration effectiveness, extended bag lifespan, and reduced maintenance costs.

Applications

NOMEX filter bags are extensively used in various industrial fields that require high-temperature and corrosive environments. Key application areas include:

Cement Industry Metallurgical Industry Petrochemical & Chemical Industry

Effective for handling dust from kiln inlets and outlets in cement production.

Ideal for handling high-temperature flue gases and dust in steel mills and smelting plants.

Widely used in refineries and chemical plants for flue gas purification and dust collection.

Power Industry Asphalt Mixing Industry Other Industrial Fields

Utilized in boiler dust collectors and flue gas treatment systems, preventing dust accumulation and ensuring efficient equipment operation.

Filters high-temperature flue gases in asphalt mixing stations, contributing to a clean production environment.

Suitable for non-ferrous metals, lime, plastics, carbon black, coke, shipbuilding, thermal power, and tobacco industries.
